Laura and Eric

Laura and Eric

I have been so excited to share this wedding with you! If you’ve read many of my wedding blogs, you know that I love all my clients. After all, only cool people want to book a working farm for their wedding. And Laura and Eric were no exception - they were so fun!

The wedding festivities kicked off the rehearsal the day before their wedding. Most rehearsals I do are super quick and just a nice run through of the day. But for this rehearsal, Laura raised the bar by surprising Eric and walking down the aisle in an inflatable t-rex costume. It was so funny and ridiculous!

The actual wedding was the next day - a beautiful, but very sunny day in September (a month known both for storms and sunny days). Laura and Eric wanted a tropical theme with pineapples for vases, and fronds and palm leaves on their arbor. Lyla did their flowers, and I did the cake decorations and arbor, and it all turned out perfectly with the theme!

They also included a number of fun personal elements, from a coconut vendor who opened fresh, cold, coconuts for the guests, to a mermaid and fisherman cake topper!

From Laura and Eric:

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Laura:  The whole day was very memorable. I truly enjoyed not having to worry about the setup of the ceremony site or rehearsal.  It allowed my family and I the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful coast of Kona and go snorkeling with Eric the morning of.

Eric: Seeing Laura walk down the aisle in her wedding dress.

What was your favorite wedding detail?

Laura: I loved the addition of the “Coconut Man”.  Guest were able to add to the coconut and make a refreshing drink.

Eric: The food was amazing. The morning before the wedding after snorkeling, I was at a local bar in Kona with my best friend. He mentioned I was getting married at the farm that evening. The bartender told us a story of working as a server for Kate. She spent the day running to get herbs to help prepare the all the dishes.

 Any advice for future couples?

Laura:  I would encourage brides to take the input offered by Kate. The vendors that she recommended did not disappoint.

Eric: Trust Kate with the details and catering. If you choose the BYOB option, don’t forget soda and/or sparkling water.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Laura: I would say surprising Eric in a T-Rex costume.

Eric: From the rehearsal, definitely seeing Laura walk up as a T-Rex. The day of, well someone asked for a soda or water… Sadly, I had to offer them a beer. Luckily, we had Kate making fruit punch and it was a big hit. She saved the day again.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Laura:  The day was so stress-free and everything turned out beautiful

Eric:  Not a thing.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Since we had Kate take care of everything, the week in Hawaii around the wedding was so relaxing it felt like a honeymoon, except our family was there… So, we’re planning a week in Hawaii in Sept 2019 as a honeymoon/one year anniversary family-free.
