South Kona Green Market

The Big Island of Hawaii (where we live) has a lot of farmers' markets. In fact, there are about 7 within driving distance of Holualoa. However, many of them are very small, or are mostly arts and crafts. Also most of the different markets fall on Saturday - which makes it difficult to go to multiple markets.image_5

Yesterday, Mike and I went to the Captain Cook farmers' market  - which is (as far as we know) the only Sunday market on the island. It was great because there were vendors from all of the other saturday markets in one place! This market did have its fair share of artisan vendors of course, but it also had a wide variety of veggies and fruits, baked goods and drinks. We were really excited.

A "mother" to brew our own Kombucha -

Two basil starts - this basil is a special variety called "Pesto Perpetuo" that doesnt flower and just keeps growing bigger and bigger. I can't wait for this basil to grow big enough for some macadamia nut pesto!

We have already eaten most of the bread and one of the tomatoes. I can't wait to go back next week! Also, I will post soon on how to brew your own Kombucha!
